The Ember replaces streaks and scores at the heart of your sanctuary. Two colors, your bloom and your ember, merge into one continuously evolving shape, driven by real signals: how long you've been together, how present you've both been lately, and the pulses you send each other. Nothing to read, nothing that shames a quiet day, it just grows and glows differently depending on how you're actually living, not how often you open the app.

How Velora works
under the surface.
Velora is a Progressive Web App: no app store, no bloat. Behind the experience is a lean, privacy-first architecture built to keep your space fast, secure, and entirely yours.
Layer 01 · Identity
The Couple Space
When one partner creates a sanctuary and the other joins with a pairing code, a private couple space is instantiated. Every piece of data, letters, moods, vault items, countdowns, is scoped exclusively to that pair. No one else can access it. Not even us.
Layer 02 · Security
Client-Side Encryption
Your vault passphrase never leaves your device. Private notes are encrypted with AES-GCM before they reach the server, meaning even in the event of a breach, your most sensitive content remains unreadable without your key.
Layer 03 · Sync
Real-Time Connection
Velora uses WebSocket channels to keep both partners in sync. When your partner logs a mood or sends a pulse, you see it the moment it happens, no refresh needed. If the connection drops, the app resyncs automatically when you return.
Layer 04 · Presence
Push Notifications
Push notifications are delivered via the Web Push standard. You're notified when a letter arrives, a pulse is sent, or a time-locked message unlocks. Requires installing Velora to your home screen as a PWA; notifications don't work from a browser tab.
Layer 05 · Access
Subscription & Tiers
One partner subscribes; both partners unlock the tier's full feature set. Payments are processed via Paystack, we never store card details. Plan changes take effect immediately, and downgrades apply at the end of the billing period.
Layer 06 · Delivery
PWA on Cloudflare
Velora is deployed on Cloudflare's global edge network, meaning it loads fast regardless of where you are. As a Progressive Web App, it installs to your home screen, works offline for cached content, and updates silently whenever we ship something new.

Layer 03 · Sync
The message is on its way, in real time.
Velora keeps both of you connected over a persistent WebSocket channel. Updates should appear within a second or two, no refresh needed.
- 1 Check you're both online, on WiFi or mobile data, not airplane mode.
- 2 Pull down to refresh the screen once. This forces a fresh resync.
- 3 If it's still delayed, close and reopen the app; the channel reconnects automatically.
Layer 04 · Presence
Push needs Velora on your home screen.
Browser tabs can't receive push notifications on most phones. Installing Velora as a PWA gives it the same notification permissions as a native app.
- 1 iPhone: open in Safari → Share icon → "Add to Home Screen".
- 2 Android: open in Chrome → menu → "Install app".
- 3 Open Velora from that new home screen icon, then enable notifications when prompted.
Layer 01 · Identity
One code, one sanctuary, two people.
A pairing code links exactly one partner to your space. It's single-use and case-sensitive, most connection issues come down to a typo or a code already claimed.
- 1 Double-check every character, codes are case-sensitive with no spaces.
- 2 Confirm the code hasn't already been used to join a different account.
- 3 Ask the creator to open "Us" and copy the code fresh, then paste rather than retype.
Layer 02 · Security
Your passphrase never leaves your device.
The vault is encrypted with AES-GCM using a key derived only from your passphrase, so a mistyped passphrase simply won't decrypt. We also know forgetting isn't anyone's fault, memory slips, life happens, so the vault can now be reset from the lock screen. The trade-off: because we never hold your key, a reset can't recover what's already inside. It clears the vault and lets you both set a new shared passphrase, a fresh start rather than an unlock.
- 1 Re-enter the passphrase slowly; check caps lock and autocorrect on mobile keyboards.
- 2 Try the passphrase in a notes app first to rule out typos, then paste it in.
- 3 If it's truly gone, use "Reset vault" on the lock screen. Neither of us can recover what's already inside by design, so this wipes the vault's existing content and lets you set a new shared passphrase together, treat it as a last resort, not a first move.
Layer 05 · Access
One subscription unlocks both accounts.
When one partner subscribes, the entitlement should propagate to the linked account automatically. A brief delay usually just means the app needs a refresh to pick up the change.
- 1 Fully close and reopen the app on the partner's device to pull the latest entitlement.
- 2 Confirm both accounts are still linked under the same couple space in "Us".
